Working from home is a pretty sweet deal—no commute, no boss hovering over you, no obnoxious co-workers. And if there’s a container of 2-week-old pad thai polluting the fridge, you know whom to blame. It’s little wonder that one in five Americans today is taking advantage of this option. Yet for all its perks, working from home does have a dark side—and it sometimes has a lot to do with your home office setup.
At a real office, of course, you’re typically set up with a real desk, chair, computer monitor, and more. Maybe your company employs an ergonomic professional to check out your workstation and ensure that everything is just as it should be. At home, you can sit and work anywhere you want—which may not be optimal for your back, wrists, eyes, and other body parts.
